Overview
Elinx Extenders extend your Ethernet connections up to 8,530 ft. (2.6km) via coaxial cable or up to 20,500 ft. (6.25km) over a pair of unused straight copper wire.
(Extender wire/cable must be free of load coils, filters or splitters.) Two Elinx Extenders are required for the Ethernet extension, one at each end of your extension points.
Optional 19-inch rack mount chassis (#EIS-RACK-16) houses any combination of up to 16 EIS-EXTEND or EIS-EXTEND-C extenders, and EIS series media converters.
Features
- One 10/100BaseTX (TX) Ethernet port with RJ-45 connectoR
- Auto negotiation of speed and duplex mode on TX port
- Auto MDIX on Ethernet port
- Complies with IEEE 802.3 10BaseT and IEEE 802.3u 100BaseTX standards
- Auto senses the speed of 1/3/5/10/15/20/25/30/40/50Mbps (up to 85Mbps with coaxial models)
- Status LED’s for monitoring and connection status
- One DIP switch configures each unit for either local mode or remote mode
Applications
- Industrial automation
- Building automation
- SCADA
- Warehousing
- Traffic control
- Point-of-Sale
- CCTV to IP
- Surveillance Cameras
- EIR-EXTEND and EIR-EXTEND-C only:
- Wide operating temperature (-40 to 75° C functional, 85° C tested)
- Terminal blocks
- Redundant power input from 12-30VDC
- DIN rail mount
- EIS-EXTEND and EIS-EXTEND-C only:
- Use as a stand-alone device or with 19-inch rack chassis (hot-swappable)
Note: All extenders work in pairs; 2 matching units required

Want your surveillance system to enter the digital world?
Better video quality, flexibility and easy remote access – over existing coaxial cable Analog CCTV recording systems have been the standard for surveillance and monitoring for the past twenty years. A traditional analog surveillance system consists of analog cameras, time-lapse VCRs and monitors. Coaxial cable runs from each camera to a multiplexing device, which allows multiple cameras to record onto one VCR with a monitor for viewing. VCR video quality is usually relatively poor in order for the VCR tape to hold a 24-hour period. With newer Ethernet/IP cameras, analog technology is outdated and rapidly being replaced. Ethernet/IP cameras represent more than 80% of all new surveillance installations. But, the
migration of existing analog systems to digital network solutions can be costly. Reap the benefits of a modern surveillance system using Ethernet IP and still leverage your existing coaxial cable investment. No need to purchase and install new Ethernet network cables! Coaxial Ethernet extenders, from B&B Electronics, allow Ethernet to be carried over legacy coaxial cable, significantly reducing the cost to convert to the latest digital technology
