No Power Supply Required on PoE Networks
These ultra-compact RS-232, RS-422/485, and RS-232/422/485 (MEI) to Ethernet converters will fit almost anywhere. Measuring only 5.1 X 7.6 x 2.5 cm (2.0 x 3.0 x 1.0 inches), it easily connects legacy or new serial devices to your Ethernet network. Installation and configuration is quick and easy with the Vlinx Manager Software provided on CD ROM. The software is compatible with Windows 2000, 2003 Server, XP, and Vista. It is powered from a 12 VDC power supply (included with the unit). Operates in Virtual COM, direct IP, or paired modes.

Using PoE, power is injected by the Ethernet switch, or an Ethernet midspan device onto the Ethernet cable itself. With PoE, Ethernet serial servers and devices draw their power through the Cat 5 cable, eliminating the need for separate wall transformers and power cords.
