VEVlinx™ Manager software
Vlinx™ Manager software puts access to your whole shop on your desk. Configure devices, upgrade firmware and monitor activity. The Monitor port feature allows you to use any PC on the LAN/WAN to actively view and troubleshoot the networkand connected devices. It displays traffic the status of the connected hardware.

Web server
Serial servers can be accessed and configured from any web browser (such as Internet Explorer) on the LAN/WAN. This allows you to remotely manage the software and your serial device. It also supports off-site troubleshooting.

Heartbeat connection protection keeps you online
If there is a communication halt, the serial server will attempt to reconnect every five seconds until a connection is regained. Without this convenient feature, a device that loses a connection and stops communicating would not be able to reconnect without a person attending to the problem

Fiber Optics is especially advantageous for long distance communications. The standard CAT 5 network is limited to about 100 meters. With fiber optics you can extend that range. B&B Electronics Vlinx Serial Servers have options for multi-mode and single-mode fiber. Multi-mode fiber extends the range to 2.5 miles (4 km). Single-mode fiber extends the distance to 9 miles or 15 km. We even have 40 and 80 km options available.

Remote Employee Access at Distribution Center

Bill is the security manager at a large distribution center. His facility uses a card-swipe system to control employee access. Recently, the company expanded a parking lot and added an additional pedestrian turnstile entry point. The trouble is, the card readers use serial data to communicate with a PC on the security network and this entry point was too far away.
