Model FDF4SE is a serial to fiber converter and network hub. Up to four pairs of fiber cable can be connected to a single RS- 232/422/485 serial port. If the PC port is RS-485, each fiber port can be addressed individually. Each fiber pair can be connected to a Model FDS4FE to monitor, poll or control four or more serial devices. Model FDS4FE converts a fiber signal to serial and acts as a network hub to monitor and control up to four RS-232 serial device.
If only one pair of fiber cables will be used, a serial to fiber converter (above) may be used in place of the Model FDF4SE. Both Models FDF4SE and FDS4FE have RJ-45 RS-422 expansion ports. By using the expansion ports and cascading devices to similar hubs you can increase the network size.
